Field Notes
Essays on transition, dignity, and quiet reinvention.

SheShift is a movement for women who refuse to be defined by what tried to break them.
Created for mothers navigating custody, divorce, loss, betrayal, and the painful work of starting over, SheShift offers more than encouragement. It provides the tools, strategy, education, community, and emotional support women need to move forward with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
We help women shift from reacting to responding, from fear to wisdom, from isolation to community, and from simply surviving to intentionally rebuilding their lives.
Because a court ruling cannot determine a mother's worth. A difficult season cannot erase her identity. And losing control of one chapter does not mean losing the power to write what comes next.
SheShift is where women come to heal without giving up, prepare without panicking, protect what matters, and become stronger than the season they are walking through.
Your story did not end.
It shifted.

SheShift is a movement for women who refuse to be defined by what tried to break them.
A Shifter is a woman who chooses healing over hatred, preparation over panic, and transformation over defeat.
This is what we stand for.
We stand for mothers who will not let a custody battle, divorce, or broken season decide their worth.
We believe children belong at the center, never in the crossfire.
We believe softness is a strategy, not a weakness.
We believe a woman can fight for her family without losing herself.
We believe the past is a chapter, not the whole story.
We are not here to survive. We are here to shift: to rise with grace, rebuild with intention, and become the women our daughters will one day quote.
Five movements. One woman. A proven framework born from the courtroom, the therapy room, and the quiet hours before dawn. Refined by thousands of women rebuilding from the inside out.
Explore the full method in the book →See the truth of where you stand. Clearly, without shame. The shift begins the moment you stop looking away.
Hold your ground and your story. Boundaries are not walls; they are the architecture of a life you choose.
Integrate the woman you were with the woman you're becoming. Nothing is wasted. Everything belongs.
Forge new agreements with your body, your finances, your family, your future. This is where quiet power is built.
Transcend the identity of what happened to you. You are not the storm. You are the woman who walks out of it.

by Marieline Evariste
She Shift was born from a question that thousands of women silently ask themselves every day:
Who am I when the fight becomes my identity?
Laying Down the Sword is the story of Lilian, a woman who started the movement.
After years of navigating one of life's hardest battles, the family court system, Marieline Evariste discovered a truth that changed everything: healing doesn't begin when the battle ends. Healing begins when you decide the battle will no longer define you.
This isn't simply a book about custody, divorce, or loss. It's about reclaiming yourself after life has demanded every ounce of your strength. It's about learning that you can advocate fiercely for your children while refusing to sacrifice your peace, your purpose, or your future.
Through powerful storytelling, hard-earned wisdom, and the principles that became the foundation of the She Shift Method™, Marieline challenges women to make the most important shift of all:
From surviving to living.
From reacting to responding.
From fear to confidence.
From constantly fighting to intentionally healing.
Whether you're navigating family court, rebuilding after divorce, healing from betrayal, or simply trying to find yourself again after years of putting everyone else first, this book will remind you that your story isn't over.
It is your invitation to lay down the sword you were never meant to carry forever.
This Is More Than a Book
Laying Down the Sword is the heartbeat of the She Shift Movement.
Every chapter reflects the belief that women are more than the hardest chapter of their lives. The book introduces the mindset, tools, and philosophy that continue inside the She Shift community, where women find education, encouragement, accountability, and a sisterhood committed to healing instead of merely surviving.
When you finish the final page, your journey is just beginning.
Welcome to She Shift.
It's time to stop living in survival mode. It's time to make your shift.
"A book that doesn't ask you to be strong. It asks you to be free."
From Chapter 5: The Email That Buried Me
Then I did the thing that ended my life as I knew it.
I put it in writing.
You have to understand why, and when I tell you why, you’re going to want to put this book down for a second, so go ahead when it comes. I put it in writing to protect myself. 14 years with that man taught me that his word was weather. He agreed to things and then the agreement would just evaporate, and there I’d be, holding nothing. So this time, the planner planned. I wrote it all out in an email so there could be no confusion later. The school. The address. School nights at his place, weekends at mine. For the school year. For the kids.
Clear. Documented. Adult.
He wrote back and agreed. Polite as you like. Sounds good. Whatever helps them.
I read his reply standing in my kitchen and I felt safe. I had it in writing. Nobody could twist anything now, because it was all right there in black and white.
It was all right there in black and white.
You see it. I know you see it. You’re reading this and you’re yelling at the page, and believe me, I have spent a year yelling at the same page. I built the document. I dated it. I laid out, in my own words, from my own account, the schedule that put my children in his house five nights a week. I did his lawyer’s job for him and I hit send on it, and I went to bed that night feeling protected by the very thing that was going to bury me.
The email was my handwriting on his story. He didn’t have to forge a thing. He just had to change the title. I called it cooperation. He filed it as a confession.
